EBOOK READ [In Scandal They Wed (The Penwich School for Virtuous Girls #2)] Sophie Jordan ï 6 summary This was the first novel I've read by Sophie Jordan After reading several review that indicated she was a fabulous writer I purchased this book I was not impressed Don't get me wrong Ms Jordan can write but I did not like the character Spencer the so called hero of this story He is arrogant vindictive and just plain horny which he concludes is love After the distasteful way he treats Evie I was hardpressed t

EBOOK READ [In Scandal They Wed (The Penwich School for Virtuous Girls #2)] Nothing original in the plot marriage of convenience lies betrayal There was so much floundering back and fourth between the characters feelings for each other It started out strong but really stalled in the middle The whole marriage was supposed to be for young Nicholas' sake but he seemed to be an after thought for 34 of the book I just wanted Evie to confess to Spencer sooner and trust him She was all about just pushing the horndog awa

Hurrah For The Blackshirts!: Fascists and Fascism in Britain Between the Wars e3 stars because it wasn t so bad that I put it down but it is ultimately pretty forgettable Better than book one but Jesus why is it always the heroine s fault that men are dicks towards her Also not a fan of the heroes in this series pushing the heroine towards sex that she s stated she doesn t want because he knows better That s fucked up In the interest of full disclosure I should say that I love Sophie Jordan s books There isn t one that I don t think is incredibly well crafted and so it seems inevitable that I would love In Scandal They Wed And I did ISTW is reminiscent of the very best of the genre the Johanna Lindsey and Julie Garwood days when heroes were handsome and troubled and heroines made mistakes that muckedverything up and we

as readers just
readers just our nails wondered how happily Adam Smith: An Enlightened Life ever after wouldver happen for these two and then sighed when it finally cameThat s the way it felt to read ISTW Spencer is gorgeous and troubled haunted by his dead cousin and devastated by what he perceives and his personal failures Evie makes a snap decision that sets her on a path that any other woman in her position would make without uestion And it is so so so fun to watch them struggle to get together And when they finally do it s oh so satisfying I love Sophie Jordan s books so I am probably not very objective when I read them I like this current series a lot she has written and am looking forward to Margerite s story next I nded up liking this Much better than While the Duke Was Sleeping But I do have to say Jordan really likes to write her heroes aggressively domineering The whole ssssh you ll like it now come here I thought pushed it a little TOO MUCH AND I M USUALLY much And I m usually one who s sensitive to these kind of things unless it s flat out rape but I was cringing a little at some of the dialogue and how Spencer kept cornering her Same thing Struan kept doing in WTDWS but it wasn t as antagonistic and aggressive in here Here the saving grace was there was actual feelings and development between the two so you got a better understanding where the hero was coming from I liked the tension between the two and the fact that heroine was the one hiding a big secret and deceiving him Nice reversal of roles IMO This was so close to being a 5 star book but how Spencer treated Evie in the woods towards the nd of the book was not very nice Yes he had been lied to but he acted like a jerk and she didn t deserve that He should of groveled for her forgiveness Ouch This book was painful The concept had potential it truly did However It was Annual Editions: Technologies, Social Media, and Society executed very poorly I found myself scanning the last 100ish pages only reading the dialouge just to get to thend I have read worse books than this not many but some It was so bad In fact I actually spent time feeling mpathetic towards the author then I did actually spent time feeling mpathetic towards the author then I did actually what I was reading After nduring page after page of this flowery drivel I think I must take a reading break just to clear my head Yes It was that bad. Ying her is a small price to pay for duty But when he meets her the fiery chit is not what he xpects to find in a ruined lady As desire flares hotly between them honor is the last thing on his mind What kind of man and woman would marry when they've only just metThe kind who could ignite a scandal with just one tou. This should not be categorised a historical romance There s nothing historical about it For the millionth time 1 CHILDREN GOT SHIT about it For the millionth time 1 ILLEGITIMATE CHILDREN GOT SHIT TITLES NO ESTATES 2 THERE WERE NO ADOPTION PROCEDURES IN THERE WERE NO ADOPTION PROCEDURES IN AND WALES BEFORE 19013 NO ILLEGIMATE OFFSPRING COULD BECOME LEGITIMATE BY MARRIAGE OR OTHER MEANS ONCE HESHE WAS BORNThe crime against basic background knowledge necessary and uncircumventable if you want to call yourself a writer of historical romances irrespective of what your target readership knows or does not knowis compounded by a writing that never rises above the amateur This was the first novel I ve read by Sophie Jordan After reading several review that indicated she was a fabulous writer I purchased this book I was not impressed Don t get me wrong Ms Jordan can write but I did not like the character Spencer the so called hero of this story He is arrogant vindictive and just plain horny which he concludes is love After the distasteful way he treats Evie I was hardpressed to believe she could be in love with him or why she would want to be Sophie s parents have treated her badly her former Black Heart, Red Ruby employer mistreated her and now she is saddled with Spencer Another thing that bothered me about this story is the language did not appear to match the 1850 Londanra The storyline seemed rush and uite frankly I ven grew tired of the ndless conflicting New Plant Parent: Learn the Ways of Plant Parenthood emotions within Evie Far to many scene after scene we had tondure Evie s should I sleep with him No I won t why didn t he come to sleep with me moments Ugh What a waste of money Reviewing at 70% after speed readingskimming this novel all afternoon Personally I would DNF if it wasn t for the fact that I will most likely need some of the information within in order to understand the last book in the trilogy I see an alarming trend one I fear will persist in the final book in this trilogy Book 1 the heroine pretends to be someone she wasn t which was original at the time Book 2 the heroine pretends to be someone she isn t which is now a slight variation on its predecessor I could swallow Fallon being a man before I could swallow anyone believing Evie is her sister The father wouldn t have sent Spencer to Evie he would have simply said his daughter was DEAD Spencer didn t ask the man about the boy he didn t know the kid Dreaming Me: An African-American Woman's Buddhist Journey existed or not yet He asked of Ian s old girlfriend and the father would have said she is dead Why prolong the inevitable That made absolutely no sense as did all of the inconsistencies with what happened with the sister Once she was happily married before her death Next she was ill after having the boy only to die later In this weakened state how did she land a husband and get married It was contradictory Basically the foundation of thentire story toppled the novel making it all hard to digest This book hit all of my annoyances a premise built on misunderstandingmiscommunication A female who is beyond irrational with actions belying her inner monologue Lastly repeating what work. What kind of woman would marry a man she only just metThe kind with nothing to loseLong ago Evelyn Cross sacrificed her good name her freedom and any hope for love Now in the remote English countryside she struggles to survive and avoid the scandal threatening to destroy all she holds dear until a sinfully handsome. Ed in book 1 within book 2 I read book 1 and loved it If I wanted to read it again I would I didn t feel a connection between the MCs seeing as how the majority of the time was spent on the misunderstanding because she refused to tell the truth that is not what a story should be built on While it is frustrating for the character it is beyond annoying for the reader We know what s going on the withholding character knows what s going on while the other does not In the nd I never connect with the story or its characters because I can t feel the warmth the Pain The Heart Of The the heart of the because the frustration of stupid decisions stupid misunderstandings overpowers the meat of the story This is my opinion but I feel this is one that is held by many readers We want than frustration from a book If you show me a responsible adult who has raised a child who is not her own after living her childhood within a home for girls she would not act as such Do not dumb down a character Reuire from her as you are the person who created this strong character If you want her to feel real give her weaknesses but not weakness of character If you don t understand what I am trying to xpress then that is why she was so I needed As for the Hero a strong man who fought in a war living a life of honor would not allow his ЯED exsister in law to take over his home notxpecting her to bully the new wife and create utter havoc If a man allowed this he is weak See my above xplanation about weakness of character vs weakness that makes a character human These plot threads meant to create angst went against the core the characters were build around leaving me feeling confused which made me lose my interestI read this feverishly trying to get through it skimming a LOT of the SAME inner monologue by both MCs It s the same thoughts written out time and time again and for once it s not description that is needless filler Am I disappointed yes Book 1 was a hard novel to follow What was original and uniue turned repetitive in book 2 Will I read book 3 Yes But book 3 will determine if I read any by this author as I do not wish to repeat history over and over again with a one trick storyline Nothing original in the plot marriage of convenience lies betrayal There was so much floundering back and fourth between the characters feelings for ach other It started out strong but really stalled in the middle The whole marriage was supposed to be for young Nicholas sake but he seemed to be an after thought for 34 of the book I just wanted Evie to confess to Spencer sooner and trust him She was all about just pushing the horndog away And Spencer had a lot of anger issues The Lost Art of Reading Natures Signs except the true bad guys in this story got offasier than Evie did There were two sub plots I wish were Moreno explored further which would have added depth to the characters One the trauma Spencerxperienced in the war and two what happened to Evie in Barbados These two things could have connected them on a deeper level but didn t All in all Viscount arrives on her doorstep offering marriage salvation and tempting her with so much What kind of man would marry a woman he only just metThe kind bound by dutyFresh from war Spencer Lockhart returns home to claim his title and right the wrong his cousin perpetrated upon Evelyn Cross In need of a wife his marr. ,
