Ok I must say that this book was difficult to read since I am a parent of a teenager I kept putting my daughter in Livvy s place and thinking how I would feel However the story was very well written I loved that although Livvy is a bright irl and has everything afforded to her she still had those same issues as all teens I was aggravated at times with Livvy s disrespect and continual comparison between Jacks and Nate I continued to love Jacks and admire his true love for his daughter while she Making Sense of Leadership: Exploring the Five Key Roles Used by Effective Leaders grows into a woman Great read and I can t wait to continue to read Livvy s story 5 Perfectly Chosen StarsIt took me a while to be able to read this series because I was not ready yet to read about Emi and Jack s daughter Olivia I wanted to keep her in my head and my heart as the child she was at the end of the Emi Lost Found series one of my favorite series ever I was finally ready and to be honest I started to read it because I wanted too back to see how Emi and Jack were doing et back into their world And that I did and in the process and I found myself totally immersed in this young woman I was transported through this story to that time period in my own life when all those feelings were so real and important Something that as an adult you tend to forget and take for ranted Seeing Emi and Jack as parents was a wonderful treat What a wonderful mom Emi turned out to be And Jack captured my heart all over again as the devoted and caring father that wanted nothing but the very best for his princess I loved Jon s character A perfect example of what a real man should be Certainly my type of hero A true example that you can aim for the stars and reach them You do not have to have everything served on a platinum platter I am looking forward to seeing Jon and Livvy develop and Gandhi Churchill: The Epic Rivalry that Destroyed an Empire and Forged Our Age grow as individuals and as a couple and how they face the challenges that I m sure life will throw at them I really enjoyed this book Lori L Otto does an amazing job at taking us through a youngirl s first love as well as her first real teenage rebellions This book brought back a lot of memories for meThe family dynamic described in the book is also Les Innocents great Parents can also make mistakes and Lori does not shy away from showing this Raising a teenager seems to be to one of the most daunting things a parent can face and Lori shows this wonderfully too The family fights are so heartbreaking but the making up is so heartwarming No family is perfect Even the most picture perfect family has it s problemsTeenagers always want torow up too fast and perhaps the thing I loved most about this book and related to so much was the pushing pushing pushing of Livvy and to a certain extent Jon and the struggle of Emi and Jack to I Was A Stranger give enough freedom but not too much Both teens realised that they were asking for perhaps than they could realistically handle And I loved thisrowth of characterThe romance is sweet and envy enducing and the family life is wonderful and realistic I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone from the age of 16 and beyond Another reat read from Lori Otto I just
#love everything she #everything she I m always very on the fence about reading YA but this one just
Proves That Fact That When Its Done Right It Canthat fact that when its done right it can a reader of any age This story was so touching and relatable If Jacks didn t win you over in The Lost and Found series he sure will in Contessa His relationship with Livvy at times both broke my heart and warmed my soul Lori Otto makes the reader feel like a part of the Holland Family after reading each book and that is truly a ift I can t wait for the next book Well books really I plan to read them all A entler read from Lori but no less rewarding I wasn t too sure about this book the main characters are young just 16 18 but I trust the authors writing now and as usual Lori offers so much than the usual teenage angst that us mums roll our eyes at As much as Livvy
was a complete spoilt brat at times I truly felt for her she knew how shea complete spoilt brat at times I truly felt for her she knew how she behaving but she s the only one in a huge close knit family that isn t blood related even Stephens step daughter has her own mum she s arty and creative and desperate to relate to someone on that level that aren t her parents she falls in love with a dream and it backfires on her spectacularly huge life lesson no 1 I think her parents coddle her than most Jack hides his hypocrisy beautifully I would ve loved Matt to have spiled a few nuggets from Jacks teenage past and she s fighting for her independence that s where Jon comes in what an absolute sweetheart mature beyond his years because of circumstances out of his control and he s exactly the uidance Livvy needs his showdown with Jack broke my heart Lori makes me cry a lot and the way he handles Livvy is brilliant I m lad I read this book it s the foundation for Livvys story Lori doesn t disappoint with her wonderful array of rich warm witty background characters and sub plots no doubt Livvys ride will be as bumpy as her parents was and that s why so far Lori s books are nothing short of 5 stars for me I m psyching myself up to expect the unexpected NOTE I recommend reading this book only AFTER you ve read the Lost and Found series It could serve as a standalone but it s a spinoff series and I think many would be confused about some events and things being spoken aboutBoy where do I even begin with this one I put it off because from the des. Book One of the YANew Adult Choisie series by the author of Emi Lost FoundWhen she was four a enerous couple welcomed orphan Olivia Sophia into their lives As she Gone: The Disappearance of Claudia Lawrence and Her Father's Desperate Search for the Truth grew up her parents madeood decisions for her raising “Livvy” to be an intelligent and creative young irl Now sixteen three people influence many of her choices her first love her se. .
It was like I was there I saw Jack s expressions heard his love for his daughter in every word he said and I know this might sound insane but I swear I felt it that way It was impossible to read this and not feel how in love Jack was with his daughter and I mean this in a fatherly way not a creepy one but you could see this from the moment he met her While I was reading Contessa I was constantly frustrated because Olivia s actions were too childish sometimes But I also understood why she acted the way she did after all she was just a child Until she realized that she had to take her responsibilities seriously There s was never oing to be any chance for her to be taken as an adultThe book is focus on one relationship in particular You would think it was Jon s and Olivia s relationship but to me it was between Jack and Olivia There was obviously a huge wall between them one that Olivia had put there one that Jack was constantly trying to take down Their relationship was breaking and breaking with every passing day because Olivia didn t want to see the beauty in it So it was heartbreaking for me to see how hurtful she was sometimes Let me talk a little about the charactersOliviaWhen I fist met her she was the sweetest thing Now she s all rown up and wants to be on her own Do what she wants be with whoever she wants Yes she s kind of a brat but she has the biggest heart She s compassionate she adores her family even when she wasn t acting very maturely I knew she loved them I loved her relationship with Emi it was beautiful to see how trusting they both were with each other Emi was her mom but she was also her friend But Emi is like that Olivia s art is something especial too That bond she thought she had with Nate at first I thought it was so amazing that she could feel the way she did about someone she hadn t met That she admired him so much But then it totally changed I hated how she made Nate a bad influence something that would eventually hurt her family so badly That would hurt Jack and Emi so much I love Nate Lori knows this He s my number one book boyfriend And I felt so protective about him reading this book because Livvy was damaging his image before everyone else s eyes not mine of course It wasn t fair And just so we are clear I know Nate wasn t perfect I know this But to me he s one character that will stick forever with me I don t agree with whoever thinks he couldn t have been a reat father He would have He would ve done ANYTHING for Emi and his family if he d had the chance He would ve made Emi happy He would ve have rown up done things differently I know it Yes she s one of the 3 characters with whom I ve thought was possible to have two loves BUT I do think Jack was is and will always be the perfect father for Olivia Jack has such an important role in this book and Olivia s life He s always been so supportive of her and I hated she couldn t see that She couldn t see past the fact that he was too protective I uess he kind of was but I uess he has a lot of reasons to be I loved Jack a lot in this book I saw some of his flaws something that I didn t see in TSS or NLB This book made him a lot
real to me And I loved how he loved Olivia even after everythingto me And I loved how he loved Olivia even after everything had said But I uess that swap hat fathers do Jon Jon Jon Jon Well he is something He s mature he s passionate about the people and things he loves He s ambitious respectful honorable But he s also kind of bad Not bad for Livvy but like He s defiant He wanted to show her everything and at first I did think they were A Little Dinner Before the Play going too fast Something that he ll realize later I loved him How sweet he was with Livvy How he d stand up to Jack and anyone for that matter to defend Livvy He loves her that much is clear And he knows what he wants and what he needs When he thought they needed space he said it He was honest and I loved that about himOh and Donna That lady is just too much She s an amazingranna I loved that she loved Olivia just as if she were her randdaughter for real She s too loving she cares a lot about people especially those around her I loved her from the very startThis book is just another reason of why I love Lori 3 I loved this story First of all although it s not reuired I recommend reading the Emi Lost Found series before beginning Contessa only because there are certain events that occur in those books that will make Contessa and the Choisie series understandable In Contessa we have the story of Olivia who is the adopted daughter of a wealthy New York familyI really love this book The author does an incredible job of writing about the angst that teenagers experience Don t shy away from the Young AdultNew Adult label this is a richly written and emotionally full story with characters that feel incredibly real The dialogue
between the parents and the Olivia and between Olivia and Jon feelthe parents and the Olivia and between Olivia and Jon feel authenticWithout a doubt Olivia is a little prickly and tough to love as a character But she is very talented and seems to find love with Jon despite the tough times and the rocky road she has with her parents Contessa is also a beautiful story about first loveI also must comment on the absolutely spectacular covers of the Choisie series Bravo Ms Otto I hate to say it but I do often judge a book by its cover and each of these are beautiful than the next Give Lori Otto a try She is a very ifted and talented writer and her stories are beautiful. An enigmatic painter from her mother’s past Her overactive imagination leads her down an obsessive path– one that only stands to hurt everyone around herThe distraction of a new boyfriend has the potential to end her search and reunite her family but his involvement in her life could be just as devastating taking Livvy away from her father for oo.
Lori L. Otto ✓ 4 reviewCription it sounds like a Nate Wilson heavy book and after finishing the Emi Lost and Found series I was still too raw to delve back in So what did I do I decided that after a mere two months I d re read that emotional ass kicking series Sick I know But I did it to set myself up for Contessa I figured if I was oing to Once a Wicked Lady: A Biography of Margaret Lockwood get my heart broken and served up to me as sushi I may as wello all the way I didn t expect to love this book as much as it s parent series I mean seriously I LOVE those books No way could I fall in love with this book even if it DOES include cameos from some of the minor people and big roles for our favorite main characters Wrong AgainI believe I mentioned that I felt this would be a Nate heavy book and yeah it is Chapter one nearly knocked me for a loop In Forbidden Reading good and bad ways I was beyond thrilled that something I had wanted since Never Look Back ended was finally reality And then Donna comes into the picture and BAM I cried The smallest mention of Nate can still do that to me Every Single Time I nearly stopped reading and set Contessa aside for another day when I thought I was ready But who knows when that will be These books are so emotionally charged that I don t believe you will ever stop feeling so strongly about the players B Let me start out by saying that all my five star up there are for Jon Because really what are our younger years about if not about love And a love story without a swoon worthy boy is noood In this case the boys name is Jon Well Jon is all things swoon worthy with sprinkles of awesomenessAnyway back to our protagonist Olivia Livvy and ContessaI really enjoyed this book All the frustration I felt at the beginning towards Olivia at the end of this story was forgotten I felt that she redeemed her self as much as a teenager can As far as Jack oh man Jack If there was any uestion as to what team I was on before there isn t now I know it s not too fair to Nate because his life was cut short but I m Jacks A Northern Line Minute: The Northern Line girl now What an amazing Father and husband I love how involved he was in Tessa s life and all limitations and boundaries he set on her Seemed very realistic I can not wait for her story to continue I just love Lori Otto s books They are stories that you become totally emotionally invested in This is a spin off of the Emi Lost and Found series Emi Jack and Nate are featured uite prominently in this novel as well Liv is a typical 16 year old one whom I found somewhat unlikable and very frustrating in the beginning Thankfully sherew emotionally by the end Jon is just divine A lovely young man who has had to row up and take on family responsibilities well before he should have This was a lovely woven love story and I can t wait for the next one to be releasedOne thing I really like about all of Lori s books is the way she writes the love scenes Sex Plays A Large Part plays a large part the lives of all of her characters but the way she writes these scenes is almost poetic I
am no prude but it s so nice to read stories that emphasis the beauty of makingno prude but it s so nice to read stories that emphasis the beauty of making rather than the mechanics Sorry for the long review I just loved this book and have a lot to say about it and I might et carried awayI apologize to Lori because it took me so long to read this But yes Lori I read it finished it and loved it Contessa is the story of Olivia Sophia Holland She s Emi and Jack s daughter
She S A Teenager Whos a teenager who starting to see the world through her own eyes and wants to explore have of it and not by herself of course There s Jon Jon Augustus Scott But there are rules Contessa is a story of self discovery Major Problems in American Urban and Suburban History: Documents and Essays growing up and love But this is also a story that will show you the hard part of being a teenager and how rough relationships between parents and daughters in this case can be My thoughtsFirst let me tell you something It is no surprise that I loved this story I mean it s Lori L Otto we are talking about I can t not love her books That being said let me tell you what I thought about the storyI thought Contessa was a complicated book to read Why Simply because I m not a teenager any and the attitude Olivia had towards some things was just so infuriating But Iuess that s just how kids are these days I don t remember being that defiant Just know that this book shows you exactly how kids act well at least some It is real The thoughts the attitude the way Olivia saw everything I thought it was pretty accurate to how a teenager would think and act Lori s an expert writing real characters and real stories It s amazing how they always are just so right I loved Contessa This is a wonderful story that A Sting in the Tale goes after the Emi Lost Found series Like I said before this is about self discovery Olivia is just starting to see the world through her own eyes experiencing new things with not so new people this includes Jack Emi Donna and Jon She s exploring new things as an artist too and that s helping her understand her life a little better torow up as a person it just took her a while to see the real meaning of her art This book has so much love in it It has a husband s love towards his wife a wife s love towards her husband their love towards their children A boyfriend and a irlfriend s love towards each other But mostly a dad s love towards his daughter And not only a dad s love It s Jack s love towards Livvy And that s beautiful because every time Jack talked to Livvy I could see and hear in my mind how much he loved her. Cond father and a third man who speaks to her through his artworkLivvy’s father is practical and steadfast; even tempered and uietly observant She’s an artist who acts on her emotions and thrives on attention Unhappy with their differences– and misunderstanding her father’s methods– Livvy chooses to focus on the similarities she shares with.
