Crazy RichOf the family and this would have been betterThe drama of this family certainly was interesting There is a lot of sex drugs multiple marriages It reads like something out of In Touch Weekly or Us Weekly If you enjoy those you may enjoy this book Where do I even start with this review My overall impression can be summarized in one word un befreaking lievable Seriously Crazy Rich is most certainly a fitting title for this biography in than one way The lives these people have been living since the start of this dynasty are mind boggling at the very least At a whopping almost five hundred pages Crazy Rich is a magnificently in depth tell all read And still I feel all that is only the tip of the iceberg and merely a lance at the lives of the Johnson heirs While reading I time and again asked myself whose reality is this It s like reading A FAIRY TALE GONE WRONG YOU HAVE THE RICHES fairy tale one wrong You have the riches power the influence and all the lory which makes it a fairytale read but then you also have the scandals drugs narcissism and people who are definitely not in touch with what I perceive as reality Yet I very much enjoyed this read I like almost everyone else know the Johnson Johnson products but I ve never heard of any of these people before Oppenheimer did a stellar job with this book and clearly put a lot of effort into compiling a book which in with this book and clearly put a lot of effort into compiling a book which in humble opinion The Unlikeliest Hero: The Story of Desmond T. Doss gives an unbiased view of this dynasty If youo into it looking for scandals drama or anything painting them in a negative light you will surely find it If like me you don t care either way what these people did or do with their lives and their millions and *only read it because you re curious about how this world famous product line started you ll find that *read it because you re curious about how this world famous product line started you ll find that so much What I love about Crazy Rich is that everyone will have a different opinion about this book once they ve finished it and it makes for a coffee table must have that would be a central point in starting topics of discussion which could ultimately lead to various debates and opinions Highly recommende. Through the enerations of a family that ave the world Band Aids and Baby Oil At the same time they've been termed perhaps the most dysfunctional family in the fortune 500 Oppenheimer is the author of biographies of the Kennedys the Clintons the Hiltons and Martha Stewart among other American ico. Several occasions where the author would seem to be oing down one path of the Johnson and Johnson story only to veer off into a completely different direction Sometimes it would take the author only a few paragraphs to return to the original story other times it took several *pages One example is Casey Johnson s intervention I was beginning to et into the story of her *One example is Casey Johnson s intervention I was beginning to et into the story of her and Oppenheimer begins discussing who was invited When he mentions Kathy Hilton instead of simply iving a one or two sentence biography he veers off for simply BOSH!: The Cookbook: Simple Recipes. Amazing Food. All Plants. giving a one or two sentence biography he veers off for couple paragraphs to discuss about Hilton It just distracted me and took away from the story of Casey s intervention Another example is Sale Johnson I understand the author wanting to discuss her biography but is a biography on her parents really necessary He could have summed up their story in a paragraph Sameoes for Dill Johnson s background The author ives uite a story on her family that could have been summed up rather uickly Often the author repeats himself or adds unnecessary information Before the chapters on Seward Jr whenever Seward Jr was ever mentioned it was followed with the sculptor or a variation Mary Lea was always mentioned as the baby face on the baby powder can These are Mary Lea was always mentioned as the baby face on the baby powder can These are interesting but they do not need to be repeated every time they are mentionedWhenever someone was rud to be ay or was Mr. Jelly's Business gay Oppenheimer had to mention it even if the person played no role in the rest of the book Laurence Dill for example I kept saying to myself Why does that matter If the flow of the book was smoother and didn to in random directions this book would have been better If the author did not mention every single person who was even remotely tied to the family or mention silly details about family members is it necessary to include that Libet freuented such movies as The Birdcage and include a synopsis of the movie this would have been a better book Take out the fluff add a little bit of the ood that the family did or even the business side from the beginning. Ing author Jerry Oppenheimer Often compared to the Kennedy clan because of the tragedies and scandals that had befallen both wealthy and powerful families Crazy Rich based on scores of exclusive candid on the record interviews reveals how the dynasty's vast fortune was both intoxicating and toxic. Forgive me if I enjoyed this book too much for me this is the perfect summer beach read or the perfect snowed in read Do you have an old metal Band Aid box that you refill from the now paper box or use tylenol or dental floss then you helped make this family rich Even with the scandal and tragedy this is an American story a real soap opera I first became fascinated with the Johnson and Johnson family story with Oprah had one to the younger members on her tv showOne of the first incidents in the book is something that someone l Crazy Rich Power Scandal and Tragedy Inside the Johnson Johnson Dynasty by Jerry Oppenheimer is a Macmillian St Martin s Press publication This book was released in August 2013 Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the DRC of this bookAs the title of the book indicates the focus of this book is on the various members of the Johnson Johnson family and the scandals and tragedies that have beset themWe were iven a brief history of how the company ot it s start then we moved on to the marriages children and various accidents deaths drug additions health issues Affairs Trials And Other trials and other dramas and traumasBefore I read this *book I had little knowledge of the his I won this book from a oodreads *I had little knowledge of the his I won this book from a Corps Values: Everything You Need to Know I Learned In the Marines goodreads This is also my first written review so bare with meThis book just wasn t for me I can understand how some may enjoy this tabloid style book but it did not do a whole lot for me I had hoped for there to be a bit history with the company charities and other business aspects of the family but these areas were only briefly touched upon For a family with so many issues they doive uite a bit with their charities The author does mention this on occasion but it almost seemed secondary to the ossip aspectsThe flow of the story was not easy to follow Instead of starting the book at the beginning of the story the author decides to start at the Republican National Convention in 2012 It isn t until around page 37 where we find the start of the Johnson and Johnson company There were. From the founders of the international health care behemoth Johnson Johnson in the late 1800s to the contemporary Johnsons of today such as billionaire New York Jets owner Robert Wood Woody Johnson IV all is revealed in this scrupulously researched unauthorized biography by New York Times bestsell. ,
